MOTION AND OPERABILITY STUDIES
Motion and operability analyses are widely used in the offshore industry to evaluate the feasibility of an operation. Based on the motion characteristics of a vessel, the environment at the location of the offshore operation and the limiting criteria of the vessel and/or mission equipment, calculations determine the percentage of the time when the vessel can still operate. This percentage can then be calculated for various headings, if the operation is not restricted to one specific heading. The results are presented in easy to understand polar plots.
